KingdomWaves Surf School was started in 2005 by local surfer Tom Leen. Tom had spent many years living and working abroad in Australia before coming home to Kerry to set up a dedicated surf school. He has been coaching at home and abroad for almost 10 years and has gained a lot of surf experience travelling and surfing all over the world regularily.
The aim of Kingdomwaves has always been to encourage people of all ages and abilities, locals and tourists alike to make use of the great waves that Kerry has to offer and take up the great sport of surfing we all know and love.
At Kingdomwaves every one of our crew genuinely both loves to surf and love to teach…and have a lot of experience in doing both. You can be sure you will be in safe hands and get your surfing experience off to the perfect start.
Instructors
Smurf
Smurf is one of the lucky Kerry surfers pushing the 30 mark that actually started surfing in his teens! This is pretty obvious when you see him ripping in the water. Along with over 15 years experience surfing around Kerry, he has also surfed all over the world with numerous ‘indo trips’ and plenty of time spent abroad travelling and surfing.
He is our senior instructor at Inch with a lot of experience so if he cant get you standing on a surfboard then it might be the one and only time we actually suggest ‘boogie’ boarding!
Fuzz
Fuzz, also a local surfer is back with us again this year after having spent much of last year away surfing different spots around the globe. He is a very experienced surfer and also has many years experience in coaching. He is our senior instructor at Banna for the Summer.

Groms
At Banna Laura is our ‘secretary, wetsuit/surfboard renter washer, office decorator, coffee and pancake maker (and anything else we can come up with)’. Unfortunately someday soon this will all change and she will be our newest surf instructor but until then she can be found mostly practising her pop ups in the container or surfing in Banna.
